Over 700,000 guests in May

A total of 701,900 guests passed through Keflavík Airport (KEF) this past May.

In May, a total of 701,900 guests passed through Keflavík Airport (KEF), marking a 2.7% increase compared to the same month last year. Guest numbers are expected to continue rising over the summer, with the airport forecasting that 5.6 million guests will travel through from April to October.

A total of 28 airlines operated flights to 76 destinations during the month of May. The most popular direct destinations were Copenhagen, London, New York, Paris, and Amsterdam.

The busiest day of the month was May 25th, when 27,871 guests passed through the airport.

According to the Icelandic Tourist Board, 67,000 Icelanders departed the country in May, an increase of 25% compared to last year.

There were 159,000 departures by foreign guests from Iceland via Keflavík Airport, representing a 1.3% increase from May last year. The largest share of these departures came from guests from the United States (24%), the United Kingdom (8%), Germany (7%), Poland (6%), and Canada (5%).
