Around 870,000 guests in June

Summer is in full swing at Keflavík Airport (KEF), and the number of guests continues to grow month by month. A total of 867,310 guests passed through the airport in June. This is just under 1% fewer than in the same month last year.
A total of 26 airlines operated flights to 79 destinations during the month of June. The most popular direct destinations were Copenhagen, London, New York, Paris, and Amsterdam.
The busiest day of the month was June 29th, when 34,747 guests passed through the airport.

Departures of Icelanders totalled just under 72,000 in June, according to numbers from the Icelandic Tourist Board. This represents a little over a 10% increase compared to June of the previous year. Since the beginning of the year, Icelanders have travelled abroad about 372,000 times, a 24.9% rise from the same period last year.
Departures of foreign visitors from the country numbered about 234,000 in June, an increase of 10% compared to the same month the previous year. Majority of the departures were by Americans (42%), followed by Germans (8%), then Canadians (5%), British (4%), and French (4%).
From January to June, around 955,000 foreign guests have departed from the country through KEF. This is 0.8% fewer departures than during the same period last year.
