Loksins Café & Bar opens

Loksins Café & Bar has opened a new and larger place at Keflavík Airport (KEF).

Loksins Café & Bar has opened a new and larger place at Keflavík Airport (KEF). They will offer a wider selection of food and drink in a new space designed by HAF Studio.

In addition to offer an excellent selection of drinks which guests of the airport have enjoyed over the year, Loksins Café & Bar will offer a new and diverse food menu with freshly baked pastries, breakfast bowls, salads, fresh ciabatta, and delicious warm dishes.

Icelandic ingredients in the spotlight

The head chef of Loksins Café & Bar, Semjon Karopka, has many years of experience in the Icelandic restaurant industry. He is also the owner and head chef of the restaurants Pronto Pasta in Borg29 food hall and Hipstur in Gróðurhúsið in Hveragerði.

"It has been exciting to reopen Loksins Café & Bar at the airport in its new form, and I am very proud of the menu we offer to the airport's guests. The focus is on Icelandic ingredients, and we have been developing new dishes, offering a delicious selection of food and drinks so that everyone can find something to their liking. We have a broad selection of tasty breakfast options, Icelandic pastries, and a variety of small plates that tantalize the taste buds and perfectly match the Loksins Café & Bar atmosphere from morning to evening," says Semjon.

A strong emphasis on design

Loksins Café & Bar has improved its acoustics and ambiance, designed by HAF Studio. Loksins Bar first opened in 2015 at KEF and was designed by HAF Studio in collaboration with Hjalti Karlsson and his design firm Karlssonwilker. The original concept was to recreate an authentic the „Reykjavik bar atmosphere“ and introduce various Icelandic traditions in food, drink, and culture to international travellers.

The design of the new and larger Loksins Café & Bar is based on these original principles. The bar boasts one of the best views at the airport, with its long side facing the runway to the south. At the entrance, there is stunning bar that divides the space into two areas: one intended as a traditional café and the other as a tavern.

Improved Guest Experience

The new location of Loksins Café & Bar is by the C-gates at the airport, near the restaurant Hjá Höllu.

"We have finally reopened Loksins Café & Bar, now in a much larger space, in a beautiful and bright area in the southern part of the airport. HAF Studio has carefully considered every detail to create a cozy environment where guests can experience a true downtown Reykjavik atmosphere. We are delighted to be able to offer this popular stop again, now in a larger and improved version," says Gunnhildur Erla Vilbergsdóttir, Commercial Manager at KEF.

For guests in a hurry, Loksins Café & Bar offers a vast selection of ready-to-eat meals and drinks in a self-service fridge, available 24/7.
