RIFF Brings Icelandic Landscapes to KEF

The exhibition, a collaboration between RIFF and 66°North, highlights breathtaking Icelandic landscapes captured by Páll Stefánsson at filming locations for well-known filming locations that have featured in international productions in recent years.
With a career spanning more than 40 years, Páll Stefánsson is one of Iceland’s most celebrated photographers. He studied photography in Sweden between 1979 and 1982 and has since published numerous books on Icelandic nature, contributed to leading international magazines, and received multiple awards for his work. Páll photographs year-round in all conditions, revealing Iceland’s raw, remote, and otherworldly beauty.

Highlights of the exhibition include images from Fjallabak, where Thor: The Dark World (2013) was filmed, as well as photographs from two Christopher Nolan blockbusters shot in Iceland: Batman Begins (2005), filmed at Svínafellsjökull, and Interstellar (2014), filmed at Þingvellir National Park. The display also features an image of Mt. Hekla, used as a filming location for Ridley Scott’s Prometheus (2012).
Now in its 22nd year, RIFF will take place in Reykjavík from September 25 to October 5, 2025. The photo exhibition at Keflavík Airport will be open for the duration of the festival, with additional works also on display in the lobby of Háskólabíó.
