Tender Process for Security Screening Area Renovations has Commenced

Today, a tender was published for the renewal of KEF's security screening area. All equipment in the security screening area will be replaced with new equipment, including screening equipment, conveyor systems, and other supporting infrastructure. With this new equipment, security screening will become simpler and more convenient for KEF's guests.

The project involves a comprehensive renovation of the security screening area at Keflavík Airport - — the area where airport guests pass through security screening after check-in. This renovation has two main components. On one hand, all security screening equipment will be replaced with the latest technology used at leading European airports, and on the other, the security screening hall will be refurbished with a focus on a brighter, more open environment and improved acoustics.

Construction will be carried out in two phases, timed for the periods of the year when airport activity is lowest. The project is expected to be completed in 2028.
