By coach or bus

If you choose to travel via coach or bus, Flybus offers scheduled transportation between KEF Airport and Reykjavík. Buses operate around the clock, with regular departures coordinated with flight arrivals and departures. We recommend booking your bus tickets in advance.

Flybus operates scheduled services between BSÍ Bus Terminal in Reykjavík and KEF, in accordance with the airport's flight timetable, which can be found at flybus.is. For arriving passengers, departures to the capital area are scheduled approximately 40 minutes after each flight’s arrival, with increased frequency during peak periods.

Passengers can choose to get off the bus at Aktu Taktu in Garðabær and Fjörukráin in Hafnarfjörður. Additionally. The bus also picks up and drops off passengers at numerous hotels and designated stops within Reykjavík. Travelers seeking information can do so at the Flybus information desk located in the arrivals hall at KEF or online at flybus.is. By Private Car

Travelers driving via private car to Keflavík Airport can choose from a variety of parking options, each designed to suit different needs. During peak travel periods, parking areas may fill up quickly, so it is strongly recommended to reserve a space in advance.

P1 – Short-Term Parking The P1 short-term parking area is located directly in front of the departures hall. These spaces are ideal for those staying at the airport for a short duration or looking for the convenience of a shorter walk to the terminal.

P3 – General Parking The general parking area, P3, is ideal for long-term parking. These are the most affordable spaces, well-suited for travellers who wish to park their car at the airport for an extended period.

Premium Parking Premium parking offers a higher level of convenience. Vehicles are parked in designated spaces outside the departure hall, and car keys are dropped off in a secure box inside the departure hall. Airport staff then relocate the vehicle to a secure parking area. Upon return, the car is delivered back to the same designated space, ready for pickup.

By Taxi

Taxis are available at the airport 24 hours a day, typically queued just outside the terminal building. This allows travellers to reach their destination conveniently and without delay. Travellers wishing to book a taxi in advance, can do so via taxi company websites or by phone. We recommended to inquire about the fare before beginning your journey.

  • Price: Varies depending on the destination. A typical fare between the airport and Reykjavík in a standard vehicle is approximately 20,000 ISK.
  • Duration: Journey time varies based on traffic and destination, with an estimated range of 30 to 90 minutes.
  • Taxi Availability: Monitor available taxis.

Drop-Off at the Airport

For those dropping off passengers at the airport, a designated “drop-off lane” is located directly outside the terminal’s departure entrance. Vehicles may stop briefly in this area to allow passengers to go to the terminal, unload luggage, and say goodbye. The first five minutes in the drop-off lane are free of charge; after that, a parking fee applies.

For longer stops, the nearby P2-parking space, offers the option to park your car for a longer period. Recently, the no-charge period was extended from 15 minutes to 30 minutes at P2.

By Public Bus

Passengers traveling to KEF by public bus (Strætó) can take Route 55, which operates daily between the capital area and the airport. Tickets cannot be reserved in advance; instead, passengers should arrive at the designated bus stop at the scheduled time and pay the fare by credit or debit card on board.

Strætó does not operate in coordination with flight schedules. Buses begin running at 6:30 AM and continue at regular intervals until approximately 11:00 PM, making this option most suitable for travellers with daytime flights.

Departing passengers travelling by bus from the capital area to KEF are dropped off directly in front of the airport’s entrance. Arriving passengers, travelling from KEF to the capital area, must walk to the Strætó bus stop at Kjóavellir, located about 150 meters from the airport’s departure exit.
